Sunday in March means a little Spring Training Baseball at Chateau GB.
While the practice of Spring Training is meant to allow baseball players to knock off the winter rust and get into season shape, it's also the time for umpires, coaches and even broadcasters to do much the same with their own off season rust.
One of the standard broadcaster phrases heard during baseball games all season long is to say that a player "Drops anchor" as they round first base and decide not to try to risk running to second.
During the game I watched today the situation arose and the broadcaster tried to fire off the "Dropped anchor" cliche but flubbed his line.
What came out was "Dropped ankle".
It not only made me smile, but I think I like it better since in fact players don't drop an anchor to stop their progress, but they DO "drop ankle" to do so.
I hope it catches on.
