Netflix Daredevil Red Costume Reveal!

For those not in the know, Daredevil debuts on Netflix tomorrow. Up to now we've seen the black costume, derived from Frank Miller's dark run on the comic book back in the day. Fans of the character have been split on the look with about half of us hating it and half loving it. It was confirmed early on that the red costume most folks are familiar with would eventually show up, so the fan backlash was a tempest in a teapot.
Love it or hate it, the early part of the series will have Daredevil looking like:

Now those of you who've visited here over the years might remember that in my opinion, the Ben Affleck Daredevil is unfairly maligned as a movie. I also happen to think that the costume is by far the best translation of a superhero outfit from print to screen. The cowl in particular always struck me as just about perfect. Everything about the outfit Affleck wore in the film made sense: Durable leather, dark maroon for blending in shadow, tight fit to avoid catching when moving in tight spaces and just an impressive looking outfit generally. It fit the time too, since this was the era of Brian Singer's X-Men who took the colourful costumes of the comics off and replaced them with dark leather outfits.

Then came the era of the contoured, textured superhero outfit, exemplified by the Bat-suit in the final installment of Nolan's Batman trilogy:

It looks to my eye like Netflix feels that we haven't moved on from that era just yet. This looks like the Nolan Batman accidentally threw a red t-shirt in with his laundry.

Personally, while I get the "superhero suit by way of tactical armour" concept, I just don't like it much. It looks fine, it fits the current trend, it makes logical sense for the character. It still doesn't scream "superhero" to me though.

Of course, it could be worse. They could have attempted to adapt the original Daredevil costume:
