And Now I Know How He Felt...

A long time ago I was having a chat with a friend about animation and was raving about my all time (still) favourite Pixar film, Ratatouille.  A professional and well respected artist, he politely listened to my glowing praise for its attention to animating the details of things like the texture of bread in the background and the grain of the finish on copper pots and pans.  To me, it really is the best animation effort to come from Pixar, ever.  If you remove the talking rat and googly eyed people, what's left is a near perfect cgi reality and it underlies and absolutely superb story.

His response was as unexpected as it was succinct.

"I can't watch a movie about rats in a kitchen."

Wow.  In all my repeated viewings of this masterpiece, the thought of being repulsed by rats in a kitchen had simply never occurred to me.  Sometimes it takes a fresh set of eyes to show you the blindingly obvious.

I think the people at Band-Aid should talk to him.

I posted about some Avengers themed Band-Aids I bought a while back.  I loved them and have since bought TMNT themed and then Spider-Man themed Band-Aids for my medicine cabinet.  It's silly but my 10 year old self loves them.

I needed one tonight.

I was mildly repulsed at the idea of using the one that came out of the Spider-Man themed set.

A Band-Aid with Venom on it just ain't right.

Seriously.  Popular character or no, venom on a Band-Aid just ain't right.
