More Painting. The Journey Continues

First up, another black canvas.  I'm pretty chuffed by how the right side of the picture came out.  The left half is not what I was after but still better than I would have predicted....

This next piece requires a bit of explanation.  And a history lesson.

Back in prehistory, this little blog fairly hummed with activity.  And visitors!  Some of those visitors took up the blogging hobby and tried their hand at adding to the font of information that is the internet.  One of the most interesting belonged to one Sawsee.  I always loved the interesting and off-beat things he would discover and post about.  His own stories were gems, too.

One memorable Sawsee post detailed a funny story that saw him go through a lot of effort to go on a hike only to discover that he had travelled all the way from home to hike in his slippers.  The rest of the day he spent hiking near his own home (in actual hiking boots) where he took this lovely picture:

At the time, I found it inspiring.  I hadn't yet picked up an oil paint but I was muckin' around with pastels, something I labelled "finger painting for adults".  I produced this:

I think I actually sent that to Sawsee.  I can't quite recall.  I can't say it looks like much, but it was fun to do.  On a recent scroll back through my own blog, I came across that story and the picture that inspired the weak pastel effort.  More inspiration.  I guess that's why despite him not posting anything at his blog in years, there's still a link to Sawsee's Blog at the side of mine.  It was (and still is!) a fun spot to scroll through.

Sharp eyed observers will note that this piece is signed.  If you're good I may even tell you why one day.
