Just A Rumor. A Really COOL Rumor.

Over at BleedingCool.com they're reporting on a rumor currently making the rounds in the movie making circles.

I normally don't bother reporting rumors myself, but this one falls under "that's very cool if true" and "I really hope that's true" for me.

After Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino took time off from film making to pen a comic book sequel of sorts.  Django teams up with an aging Zorro, adventure and hijinks ensue.

Apparently, Tarantino is making some moves towards turning the comic into a film, likely in a producer role.  There's absolutely zero information beyond the speculation that Antonio Banderas happens to be pushing 60 himself and assuming relative health and physical fitness would likely be perfect if he could be convinced to reprise the role one more time.

Normally I'm not a big "revisit with ancient actors" fan.  We've gotten a mixed bag (at best) when action stars try to recapture the characters of their youth.  There's never a guarantee that the original magic will translate into middle age or beyond.

Still, I loved Banderas in the first Zorro he did and it would be nice to see his take on the character redeemed after the abysmal sequel.  I haven't read the comic in question, but Tarantino is Tarantino, so there's a certain amount of confidence in the source, even if he's not directing.  Django was pretty damned good as westerns go, so a mash up with Zorro could be pretty great.

Still just speculation at this point.  Cool speculation, but speculation none the less.
