Huh. Didn't See That Coming.

A long time ago, I learned a "fact".  It actually came up in an episode of Batman - The Animated Series.

It seems that reading in a dream is "impossible".  Didn't think much about it at the time.

At some point along the way, I discovered that I can (rarely) do what is called "lucid dreaming".  Once in a while I realize that I'm dreaming and from then until I wake up, I can control the dream.  Sadly, this is usually short lived, since lucid dreaming is most often something that occurs just as you get ready to wake up.

I also discovered that I can, in fact, read while I dream.  Usually just a few words, a name in a phone book, that sort of thing.  It NEVER happens when I lucid dream.  Only in a normal dream, something I remember in the morning as we sometimes do.  When I lucid dream and try to read, that usually wakes me up.

Here's the interesting part.  Studies have been done on this.  Turns out that about 1% of people can actually read in dreams.  What's really interesting is that the vast majority of the people who can do this share a common occupation.  They're writers.

There's hope for me yet.  It's my dream.
