Oscars. Not My Thing.

I can tell you honestly that I haven't watched an Oscar night since the year that Silence of the Lambs won Best Picture.  In most cases the nominees are movies, actors and directors that I don't know or care about.

This year's crop is mostly that.  I kinda enjoyed Everything, Everywhere, All At Once, but that's one of the few movies on the list I've even seen.  I have little interest in any awards program that only recognizes my kind of films in the technical categories.

I do have two categories that interest me.

I hope Angela Bassett wins Best Supporting Actress for Black Panther - Wakanda Forever.  I haven't seen it yet, but any time a superhero/comic book film can win an Oscar, it's a win for folks like me.

I also hope Bill Nighy wins Best Actor for Living.  I haven't seen it and I'm not a particularly big Bill Nighy fan.  I hope this happens since one of my daily visited websites reported his nomination as being "Bill Nye, Best Actor, 'Living'" and I got all excited.  Hopefully if Nighy wins, other sites will make the same mistake and a new urban myth about Bill Nye The Science Guy winning an Oscar will be born.

I would enjoy that more than all the Oscar shows I've ever watched, put together.
