Make Black Panther 2. Don't Recast Boseman.

With the horrid news of the death of star Chadwick Boseman, focus is currently on our collective grief and shock.  As it should be.  I'm still feeling it and I'm just a fan who never met the man.  I cannot imagine what his colleagues are going through, let alone his family.

That said, he was part of a juggernaut that will eventually keep rolling without him.  Sad as that is, it is also inevitable.  The first instinct will probably be to recast with another actor but I think that not only is that a bad idea, but there is a better way forward for the character of Black Panther.

Letitia Wright.

The actress who plays T'Challa's sister, Shuri, is the way forward.  Black Panther 2 needs to pick up right after the off screen death of T'Challa and place Shuri on the throne as Queen of Wakanda and the new Black Panther.

The plot could simply follow her quest to get justice for the assassination of T'Challa.  It pretty much writes itself AND gives Marvel a chance to bring us a movie with a WOMAN OF COLOUR AS THE LEAD.  Wright stole every scene she had in Black Panther and placing her front and center of the sequel not only ups Marvel's diversity game but honours the work of Chadwick Boseman by NOT RECASTING him.
