...but the late Carl Sagan is definitely one.
It's always nice to know that I'm not alone. Carl, of course, is the hero of many a scientist and his work has inspired generations of humans to take up the task of trying to discover more about our universe.
The newest (and first-ever female) director of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Dr. Makenzie Lystrup is obviously among those who were inspired by Carl Sagan's teaching and scientific contributions.
This is her, being sworn in to her new position on April 6, 2023:
While it's not obvious from the picture, that book she's got her hand on as she is sworn in is a copy of Carl Sagan's Pale Blue Dot. The book expands on his famous speech. Like all his work, it's worth reading.
At the least, take another listen.
Like I said, I have very few heroes. Dr. Lystrup just became a new candidate to make the shortlist.
