The first installment of Denis Villeneuve's take on Dune was good. Perhaps not great and not in any way groundbreaking, but good. There may be greatness in Part 2 though. This trailer has me for reals giddy about just how good this could be.
Riding a sandworm as long as a couple of football fields should feel like this.
If the rest of the movie can live up to the promise of the pace and fury of this trailer, this could be the definitive version of the novel on film, something I NEVER thought could actually happen. Villeneuve looks to have saved his best for last in telling the second half of the tale.
I'd love to see the filmed saga get as far as God Emperor of Dune although I have my doubts as to the filmability of that one. Giant sandworm riding is awesome. Giant sandworm with a human face who uses his ability to see the future to rule the galaxy for centuries is a whole other kettle of weird.
