As you saw one post ago, I'm now (finally!) the proud owner of a classic LEGO castle, circa 1981 or so.
It came with the original mini-figures, that is 4 mounted knights plus 4 attendants and 6 castle guards. So far, so good.
I probably didn't really notice it at the time, but this set (to me) is still not complete. And I'm not talking about the 4 missing shields that the attendants are supposed to have, each in the same livery as their mounted knights.
Nope, what I'm talking about is something that was missing from the original set from the get go.
Take a look at the two new mini-figures I've added from the modern LEGO collection. They're standing in the very back tower.
Seriously. How do you market a castle toy without a King and Queen?
One way it's actually better to have added this set to my life in the present day. I probably would have been annoyed by the lack of royalty as a kid.
Eventually.
