Yeah, not nearly what you think. A floor. I spend 8 hours laying a floor.
About a year ago I found a company in the U.K. called "Exclusiv Flooring" and that missing "e" in "Exclusive" is not a typo. So what makes their flooring product so "exclusiv"?
This:
That's right. Marvel Floor, Scooby-Doo Wall.
That's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Nightlight at the bottom right.
I like what I like.
Yup. That's a licensed Marvel Comics floor, kids. The flooring itself isn't cheap and the difficulty getting it to land in my front hallway in small town Canada pretty much required some Dr. Strange level magic, but I did finally manage to get it here. The flooring company is in England, the product manufactured in Germany and Exclusiv partnered with Wal-Mart, so my floor actually shipped from Los Angeles. It's actually more complicated than even that but that gives you an idea of how difficult a purchase this actually was. And then I had to install it. The full installation took me about 8 hours but I suspect a more experienced installer could cut that in half. I've done laminate flooring many times but this required special care since it's so bloody cool! I took extra care and time to fiddle the corners and doorways juuust right. Even after all that, that door at the end of the hall no longer opens, since the removed flooring was a millimeter or two thinner than the new. I'll sort that eventually but it's a door I never use, so not a huge problem for the moment.
Here's a shot from the top of the stairs. Not great lighting but it's the best I can do.
Yeah, my house is just WAY cooler now.
So, next on my list is to get DC Comics to license something similar. I'd love a Superman/Batman/Wonder Woman kitchen...
