Cavalierly Cavill-less

Sad news on the inter-tubes today.

It looks like the new head dudes have decided to recast rather than retool for the next incarnation of Superman and Gunn himself plans to write the next Superman film.

 

Up, up and away.  Well, away.

I am not angry at Gunn and Safran for this, despite my love for Cavill in the role.  I am pissed at the ham-handed mismanagement of DC Comics films in general over the last decade that resulted in a perceived need for this recasting rather than a trilogy of great Superman films already in the can.  

Plenty of blame to go around and even a few kudos for some of the stuff that came out during that time, but what a cluster-fuck these idiots presided over.  How do you screw up making movies starring the greatest comic book hero in history? 

Here's hoping that someday we'll see Cavill back in the cape.  Perhaps an aged, grizzled Cavill could show up in a Kingdom Come film in 15 or 20 years...
