I'm old enough to be surprised when I hear that a childhood icon has just died. Most of the personalities I associate with childhood have long since passed.
Sadly, one of the rare long lived personalities from that long ago time has just passed and it makes me so sad I am almost shocked. It has been almost half a century since I regularly watched the show, but the loss of Bob McGrath, long time fixture on Sesame Street still stings.
McGrath was one of the humans on the show from 1969 to 2017
McGrath sang tunes in the early 70's for my formative self that I still remember today. He and his castmates and a bunch of muppets helped craft my lifelong love of reading and language. He continued to do so for almost half a century and countless more formative selves.
"T" is for the Thanks I owe you, Bob.
