Anyone who is interested in this stuff knows that Gunn and Safran made the first announcement regarding new stuff from DC Studios yesterday. It's a lot to digest and I'll get into it more as I learn more about each new plan.
For now, I'm excited for a Swamp Thing movie and the Supergirl project sounds interesting. A Lanterns tv show and a Booster Gold series also sound promising. I'm still trying to get my head around the other announced projects.
More on that another day.
Today, to exactly NO ONE'S surprise, the news dropped that Pennyworth is done after 3 seasons.
I never really warmed to this one. It was just this side of too weird for me, despite some great actors and a few interesting ideas. I watched, but it was often a challenge not to give up on it. I liked Jack Bannon and hope he manages to vault off the notoriety of being a pre-Batman Alfred into bigger and better things. The lady who played his Mum, Dorothy Atkinson, was awesome as well and I hope to see her in more unexpectedly good at ass-kicking and sarcasm roles down the road.
It's been said aloud that Superman and Lois will continue "one or two more seasons" but as of now, the only other not yet cancelled live action DC show is the CW's Gotham Knights. They just released some promo with character posters for the show and it looks...terrible. Apparently, none of the characters will be in costume. So a handful of teenagers in street clothes vs. Two-Face is apparently how this is to go down. I could be wrong, but it's probably not a great plan to do a super hero show without any super heroes...
For every beginning, first there must be an ending.
