James Gunn posted an image of Krypto, the super-dog from the upcoming Superman movie.
I post this for your enjoyment in case you haven't already seen it elsewhere.

I post this for two reasons.
1. I love the little mutt. He's just awesome and I want to scritch his little cockeyed ears and kiss his adorable nose. If I wasn't already planning to see the Superman movie (obviously, I was!) I'd have been persuded to watch once I saw this little guy in his cape!
2. Long time readers may remember me telling you that comic book fans will argue over juuust about anything in a comic book movie. Sure enough, there's a section of the "fandom" who are arguing that the inclusion of Krypto diminishes the film somehow. It's not out for another six months, but some folks already firmly believe that including Superman's dog somehow hurts his brand.
Sigh.
Superman has had Krypto since 1955 in the comics. Krypto has been a bunch of different varieties of dog over the years, most often a white mid-sized retriever of some sort. He's been in several live action tv shows and a bunch of animated ones. He's even headlined a couple of animated films. He's as much a part of the mythos as Jimmy Olsen or kryptonite.
He's never been featured in a live action movie, so he's due.
Plus, this version is ADORABLE!
While it is still possible that the dog might somehow ruin the movie, somehow I doubt it. At the very least, let's see the whole movie before making that kind of judgment call! And to be clear, the dog ruining the movie for all but the most cynical of dog hating comic fans is a VERY remote possibility.

To quote Clark Kent from the finale of Superman and Lois:
"Seriously. How did I never have a dog before?"
