Widely reported today, Stan Lee has died at the venerable age of 95.
This doesn't make me sad.  95 years as Stan Lee is at least two or three lifetimes as a mere mortal.
Nobody can live forever and Stan made the absolute most of the time he had, balls to the wall right up to near the end.  As recently as this year he was out signing autographs and meeting fans.  Stan the Man, indeed.  To call him beloved by us fans would dramatically undersell it.
As I say, not something to be sad about.  More than almost anyone in the last century or so, the massive body of work he left and the parts of pop culture he influenced will live long after him and long after you and I.  In a way, that's about as immortal as one can get.
Maybe some folks can live forever.
Fare thee well, Mr. Lieber.
EXCELSIOR!
